Let me tell you a story...
My username here at FortuneCity is mjmcpa. Thanks for coming to visit. If anyone is interested, I'd like to share a few things about myself.
I'm 29 years old (no, really), married since August 1992, have a wonderful daughter born November 4, 1998 and a Pembroke Welsh Corgi named Tinker that we've had since January 1997. We all reside in Yardley, PA, which is about 30 miles north of Center City Philadelphia, City of Brotherly Love. Over the past five years, my wife and I have lived in Charleston, WV, Newark, DE (near Wilmington, DE) and Ambler, PA (about 20 miles east of Yardley, PA).
I'm not going to give you all of the details of my life, just a some of the highlights...I grew up in Masontown, PA, which is a small town (pop. approx. 5,000) about 60 miles south of Pittsburgh, PA (and for those of you checking spelling, that is the correct way to spell Pittsburgh). I went to college at Penn State at Erie, The Behrend College (the only Penn State satellite campus to offer all four years of course work) and graduated in May 1992 with a B.S. in Accounting (please, no jokes about the B.S...and hey! No jokes about the accounting thing either!).
Since college, I've passed the CPA Exam (it only took 23 or 24 tries, but who's counting?), worked for three different CPA firms and Commonwealth Land Title Insurance Company and an internal auditor. Commonwealth became part of the LandAmerica Financial Group in February 1998 as a result of a sale of the company by Reliance Group Holdings. I currently work for Reliance Insurance Group, another piece of Reliance Group Holdings, also as an internal auditor. My positions with the two Reliance companies have allowed me to travel to some nice (Tampa, LA, Seattle) and some not so nice (I won't mention city names as not to offend) places. What city will be next?
Other Info:
- I'm a jack of all trades, master of none, as may be noticed by the various topics currently on my home page. The most important trade, which I will probably never master, is to handle my daughter.
- I like to play computer and video games (mostly shoot 'em up and blow 'em up type stuff) and then break my computer when I don't win (ask my wife, she'll confirm it). I do the same thing with our Playstation.
- On rare occasions, I like to cook something a little fancy. You know, something that takes most of the day. Mostly though, I just like to use knives to chop vegetables and stuff into itty bitty pieces. Hey, I'm no chef, but I think I do pretty well for a bean counter!
- I like to sample various forms of spirits. Hey, I'm not talking ghosts here, I'm talking about good ol' alcoholic beverages. I prefer micro-brewed beer (I can't stand beer from the large brewing companies and even some of the larger micro- breweries since I started drinking micro-brews). I'm a member of one of the 'beer of the month' clubs so I pretty much keep in stock. If I'm feeling adventurous, I'll have some Jack Daniel's.
Those are the highlights. It's not my life history and I'm not going to waste any more of this free web space with journals of my life. In fact, this page should hardly ever change (unless I change jobs or have more kids or something) so you never really have to come back to this page again (but please continue to visit the others).
